About Matty
Matty Wilkinson is a Feldenkrais Method®, Anat Baniel Method® for Children, and Jeremy Krauss Approach practitioner in private practice in Boston and online.
In 2001 Matty began teaching preschool, studying child development and joined a Feldenkrais® training (graduating in 2003). He completed his Anat Baniel Method for Children® training in 2006 and earned a MA in Child Development from Tufts University in 2009. Matty has also trained in Jeremy Krauss Approach Solvents & Glue, Abilities Through Movement and Developmental Hands on in Boston and Germany.
Matty coaches parents and educators to create optimal conditions for children’s learning, applying his expertise as an early childhood educator, sensorimotor practitioner, and father. In his practice he has worked with diverse populations including children and adults with scoliosis, developmental delays, neurological injuries (i.e. stroke, cerebral palsy), chronic pain, learning disabilities, genetic conditions, and individuals on the autism spectrum. He seeks to help his clients access their nervous systems' potential to maximize functioning, overcome a broad range of challenges, and become efficient and effective learners.
In 2016 Matty began to work internationally, traveling several times a year to work with children and families at the Scandinavian Center of Neurodevelopmental Movement in Denmark. In 2020 he co founded The Moving Center with Andrea Hennen and Eytan Lerner. Together they have taught extensively both in person and online, developing a unique approach that draws on Feldenkrais, Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement®, child development, and directly addresses the importance of the adult caregiver’s habitual and often unconscious emotional reactions in creating the ideal conditions for the child’s learning.
Matty has collaborated extensively with Dr. Paricia Musolino, co-director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Pediatric Stroke Clinic, and has presented several times to MGH providers and the MGH pediatric stroke and brain injury patient community on ways to use movement and perception to facilitate recovery from neurological injury. Matty sits on the MGH Pediatric Stroke Parent Advisory Board, and has written about movement and neuroplasticity for the MGH Pediatric Stroke Clinic’s patient literature.
